This page is about data comics. Data comics are a novel way of communicating data through visualizations, inspired by the visual language of comics. While comics are widely known, few examples of data comics exist and there has not been any structured analysis nor guidance for their creation. This website collects potential examples of data comics, visualizations and traditional comics that can inspire data comics. However, not all of the examples might be considered effective data comics and it is hard to define specific criteria of what can be called a ‘data comic’. However, below we try to give some answers.
We hope this website and our examples support a wider discussion and inspire journalists, artists, data scientists, and others to create their own data comics and help exploring and discovering this novel medium.
